How to Ship Your Item
McHugh's Restorations
Items should be sent to:
McHugh's Restorations,
5708 Patterson Avenue,
Richmond, VA 23226.
Most items can be shipped to us for an estimate. If
you do not feel comfortable packing the piece or pieces yourself, we suggest
taking them to a Packing Store.
If you decide to pack them yourself or have someone else do it, our
instructions are the same:
Your item should be packed in its original box if it is available; this is
especially helpful if the item is a Lladro or Thomas Blackshear. If you do
have the original box, make sure you wrap up whatever the broken piece is,
do not leave it to move freely in the box- it will act as a missile in
transit and may break other undamaged areas.
If you do not have your original box, your piece should be wrapped securely
in bubble wrap or tissue. NOT in newspaper or newsprint, which leaves a
residue on many items and on some, is not removable. Then, put the wrapped
item inside of a box, it should be cushioned by peanuts or balled up paper;
you may use newspaper for this portion of the packing. MAKE SURE TO
PUT YOUR NAME, PHONE NUMBER AND ADDRESS ON THE INSIDE OF THIS BOX!
Occasionally boxes arrive with no contact information and we have to wait
and hope the owner gets in touch with us!
This box should then be put inside of a larger box, again surrounded by
peanuts or some type of cushion. This way if the outer box is damaged,
hopefully the inner one will be spared. Do not send your Lladro,
Blackshear or other original box as the OUTER box- it may get damaged in
transit and the boxes are connected with your resale value.
Finally, you can ship through UPS, USPS, FedEx or whatever you normally use.
You should insure your piece(s) for their FULL REPLACEMENT value. If you are
sending a part of a set, you should insure the piece for the value of the
set.
We will contact you upon receipt of your item(s). We will tell you what your
restoration options are, the cost for these options and the time frame
involved.
